We remember. We honor. We will not forget.

Люди проходять повз ряди чорних надгробків, біля кожного з яких встановлено прапор України.

On August 28, on the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, who died in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of our state, the Chuhuiv community honored the memory of the fallen Defenders.

This day began in a place sacred to every Chuguev resident - the Alley of Memory of the Fallen Soldiers at the cemetery, where our Heroes found their final resting place.

Representatives of the city and district military administrations, the city council, military personnel, law enforcement officers, and community residents paid tribute to those who defended their native land, peace, and the future of Ukraine with a minute of silence and laying flowers.

The Alley of Remembrance is a place that requires special attention and care. Its territory is being improved at the expense of the local budget, because it is our duty to provide worthy conditions for the final resting place of those who protected us all.

Another important place of memory preservation in our community is the Defenders of the Fatherland Square, where the Alley of Commemoration of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine is located.

Here are portraits of our compatriots who died defending Ukraine, along with information about them provided by their families and the military units where they served.

The alley was opened in 2024. Since then, unfortunately, it has continued to be replenished with new portraits. In two years, their number has almost doubled.

This week, portraits of 21 more fallen Heroes were installed on the Alley.

Behind each of them is a human story, family, friends, unfulfilled dreams, and a life cut short by war. For their families, these are the most precious people. For our community, they are fellow countrymen who paid the highest price for Ukraine's right to be free.

During the commemorative event, the "Embroidered Ribbon of Memory" campaign was held - together with the families of the fallen Defenders, they tied embroidered ribbons to the portraits of the Heroes, prayed, and bowed their heads in a moment of silence.

The alley in the square of Defenders of the Fatherland is not just a memorial space. It is a place of living memory. A place where people come at the call of their hearts - to stop by a familiar portrait, remember, mentally thank, and bow their heads before the feat of someone who will never return home.

The Alley of Remembrance at the cemetery and the Alley of Remembrance in the square are two important places in our community, united by one goal: to preserve the memory of everyone who gave their lives for Ukraine.

Memory lives on as long as we name our Heroes, tell their stories, preserve their faces, and pass this memory on to future generations.

Eternal memory and glory to the Defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives for our freedom.

We remember everyone.

We always remember.
