At the invitation of mayors Thomas Berling and Renze Bergsma, representatives of the Chuguiv Urban Territorial Community paid a working visit to the city of Nordhorn (Germany) and the municipality of Coowarden (Netherlands).

In June last year, an official cooperation agreement was signed between the Chuguiv Urban Territorial Community, the city of Nordhorn, and the municipality of Coowarden.

As part of the visit, a number of working meetings were held with municipal leadership, representatives of utility companies, healthcare facilities, fire and rescue services, and other institutions.

The main focus was on issues of further development of the partnership, the restoration of our community, the modernization of municipal infrastructure, and the expansion of humanitarian cooperation.

As a result of the meetings, agreements were reached on organizing recreation for children of the Chuguiv community, developing professional exchanges between medical professionals, supporting the Chuguiv Central Hospital through the transfer of medical equipment, and implementing joint projects in the field of housing and communal services.

Separately, representatives of our delegation noted the significant support that the communities of Nordhorn and Coowarden have provided to the Chuguiv community since the beginning of the partnership. Thanks to the cooperation, short-term vacations for children from our community have already been organized twice.

In early 2025, the Chuguiv community received humanitarian aid from the city of Nordhorn in the form of vehicles and equipment for emergency repair teams. Recently, the community also received a specialized vehicle for civil protection needs from partners.

In turn, representatives of the Chuhuiv community familiarized our friends with the work of local government bodies under martial law, the experience of ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of critical infrastructure and providing vital services to the population in conditions of constant security challenges.

A separate item on the program was a visit to the Ukrainian refugee center in Coowarden.

The delegation of the Chuhuiv community expressed sincere gratitude to the partners for their comprehensive support for Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes due to the war, as well as for creating appropriate conditions for their residence and adaptation.

– International partnership today is not only a tool for intermunicipal cooperation, but also an important mechanism for attracting resources, knowledge and opportunities for restoration and development, – noted the head of the Chuguiv city military administration Galina Minaeva. – The working visit to Nordhorn and Coevorden was another step towards deepening cooperation, implementing new joint initiatives and strengthening friendly relations between communities. I would like to thank our partners in particular for the fact that the visit was held at the expense of the host parties, who ensured that the expenses associated with the stay of the Chuguiv delegation were covered.
