The war has significantly increased the vulnerability of Ukrainians. Forced displacement, seeking work abroad or in other regions of the country, financial hardship — all these are factors that criminals try to exploit. Human trafficking is not only «slavery» in the classical sense, it is a hidden exploitation that can hide behind advertisements for «quick money» or «free help.».
To protect citizens and prevent dangerous situations, a nationwide information campaign «Does this sound familiar to you?» is being implemented in Ukraine.
About the initiative The project is implemented by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine together with the National Social Service, the National Police, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Representative Office in Ukraine, and the All-Ukrainian Coalition of Public Organizations to Combat Human Trafficking.
Campaign goal:
- Awareness: Teach citizens to recognize signs of exploitation (labor, sexual, involvement in begging, etc.).
- Interaction: Strengthen cooperation between government agencies and communities to respond quickly to threats.
- Assistance: Inform affected individuals about their rights and available support mechanisms — from legal assistance to psychological rehabilitation.
Important to know: If you or your loved ones find themselves in a situation where your passport has been taken away, your movement is restricted, you are forced to work without pay, or you are threatened, do not remain silent.
